Jaycie Smith, a freshman defender from Bluffdale, Utah, brings a strong work ethic, determination and commitment to improvement to the USU Eastern soccer program. She was a three-year member of her high school soccer program, competing primarily as an outside back. Throughout her career, she was recognized for her determination, coachability and dedication to developing her game.
She also excelled in the classroom, maintaining a 4.0 GPA and earning Academic All-State honors. She completed the General Education Certificate of Completion before beginning her collegiate career. Her experiences as a student-athlete helped develop the work ethic, discipline and perseverance she brings to every opportunity.
She is the daughter of Eric and Sara Smith and is the middle child of three, with an older sister and younger brother. Athletics run in her family, as her father played soccer at Utah Valley State College, now Utah Valley University, while her mother was a member of the university's dance team. Their support and encouragement helped foster her passion for sports and competition.
Outside of soccer, Smith enjoys reading, watching sports and spending time with her friends and family. She chose Utah State University Eastern for the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level, continue improving as a player and pursue her academic goals in a supportive environment.
