Martin Topic, a freshman defender from Stuttgart, Germany, brings a strong work ethic, international perspective and commitment to personal growth to the USU Eastern soccer program. He completed his high school education in Germany while competing in club soccer, learning valuable lessons in discipline, time management and commitment. Balancing academics with competitive soccer helped him stay focused on his goals while developing both as a student and an athlete.
His family plays an important role in his life. Leaving Germany to attend college in the United States was a difficult decision because of how close he is with his family. However, he recognized the opportunity as one that might only come once in a lifetime and chose to take the chance and pursue his goals. His family's constant support and encouragement continue to motivate him even while he is far from home.
He is a strong believer in Jesus Christ, and his faith is an important part of his life. He credits his faith with providing strength, purpose and guidance as he navigates new experiences and challenges. Outside of soccer, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, staying active, traveling and experiencing new things.
Topic chose USU Eastern because he wanted to challenge himself by studying and playing soccer in a new country and environment. Coming from Germany to the United States represents a significant step in his life, but he sees it as an opportunity to grow academically, athletically, personally and spiritually. He hopes to make the most of his experience, represent his family and team with pride, and continue becoming the best version of himself.
