Zach Denny, a freshman defender from North Pole, Alaska, brings four years of varsity experience, multi-sport versatility and a strong competitive mindset to the USU Eastern soccer program. He was a four-year varsity soccer player and was named Player of the Game six times during the State Tournament throughout his high school career. As a senior, he was named Conference MVP, highlighting his impact and leadership on the field. In addition to soccer, he competed in American football for four years and also tried wrestling as a freshman and basketball as a sophomore.
He is the youngest of three children and the son of Karen and Todd. He comes from a family with a strong connection to collegiate athletics. His older sister played Division II soccer at Nebraska Wesleyan University while studying athletic training before transferring to Western Carolina University to pursue physical therapy. His older brother also continued his soccer career at the collegiate level, playing at Otero Junior College before transferring to Kansas Wesleyan University. He later earned an opportunity to compete at the Division I level at Radford University.
Outside of soccer, he describes himself as easygoing and enjoys spending time with his teammates and friends. He spends his free time playing soccer, watching shows, playing video games and occasionally drawing and sketching. He loves competing and being part of a team, with soccer remaining a major part of his life.
Denny is studying Criminal Justice with aspirations of becoming a forensic scientist or patrol officer. He looks forward to continuing his soccer career at USU Eastern while pursuing his academic goals and preparing for a future career in law enforcement.
