Uche Kariuki, a freshman defender from Hamburg, Germany, brings high-level international experience and a strong work ethic to the USU Eastern soccer program. He played for VfB Lübeck U19 in the German U19 Regionalliga, competing against strong teams and talented players each week. During his time with the club, he developed his technical skills, tactical understanding and work ethic while gaining experience in regional and national competitions. Known as a hardworking and disciplined player, he consistently prioritized the success of his team and learned the importance of commitment, consistency and professionalism through his experience in German football.
He comes from a supportive family. His parents, Eke and Victoria, have encouraged him throughout his athletic and academic journey. He has two siblings, a sister, Christi, and a younger brother, Mike. His family has emphasized the importance of working hard both on and off the field while maintaining a strong commitment to education alongside athletics.
Outside of soccer, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, working out and watching football. He also has an interest in business and personal development. He plans to study Business Administration with the goal of building a successful career after soccer and developing the skills necessary to eventually run a business.
Kariuki chose to come to the United States because of the opportunity to combine high-level soccer with a quality education. He believes playing and studying in America will challenge him to grow both as an athlete and as a person while preparing him for his future career. He looks forward to continuing his development on the field while taking advantage of the academic opportunities at USU Eastern.
