USU Eastern Athletics

Luis Velasco Perez, a sophomore midfielder from Ogden, Utah, brings a decorated high school and club career and a lifelong passion for the game to the USU Eastern soccer program. He is a two-time State Champion and three-time First Team All-State selection. He was also named All-Area Player of the Year and earned Mountain Conference ECNL First Team and Second Team honors. At the club level, he helped his team capture an ODP National Championship, adding another major accomplishment to his competitive career.

He comes from a family with a strong connection to soccer. He has three siblings, all of whom have played or currently play the sport. His parents, Maria and Juan, are also passionate about soccer, with his father continuing to play. His brother has coached Ogden High School to three consecutive State Championships, winning all three titles. Growing up in a soccer-centered family has helped shape [ATHLETE]'s love and dedication to the game.

Velasco has played soccer for approximately 16-17 years and considers it his passion. Outside of soccer, he enjoys working on and importing Japanese cars, hiking and working out at the gym. He plans to study sports therapy with the goal of helping other athletes. He chose USU Eastern to continue playing the sport he loves while earning an education and preparing for his future career.
