USU Eastern Athletics

Mateo Schachtschabel, a sophomore forward from Stuttgart, Germany, brings extensive youth development experience and a strong competitive background to the USU Eastern soccer program. He spent more than five years in the DFB Talent Development Program (Stützpunkt), where he developed alongside some of the top young players in the region. Mateo also earned multiple nominations for the WfV A-Squad, which recognizes the top 32 players in Baden-Württemberg. He spent more than a year with Schwabensport in cooperation with VfB Stuttgart during the founding of its U12 team, where he advanced to the Top 14.

He is the son of Joerg and Simone Schachtschabel and has two siblings, a brother and a sister. His family has consistently supported his development both on and off the field, encouraging his pursuit of academic and athletic opportunities abroad.

Outside of soccer, Schachtschabel enjoys meeting new people, listening to music and spending time with his family and friends. He plans to study Marketing with an interest in Business while at USU Eastern. He chose the school because of its supportive community and the opportunity to continue growing academically, personally and athletically.
