Staša Lakovic, a freshman setter from Podgorica, Montenegro, brings an impressive international and competitive background to the USU Eastern volleyball program. Over her two school seasons in the United States, she competed at the varsity level and helped lead her team to Regional Championships in both seasons. During her second season, she served as team captain and guided her team to a State Championship. She was selected to the All-State Team in both seasons and earned All-Star honors at the State Tournament each year. Across her two seasons, she recorded 1,843 assists, averaging 9.7 assists per set, along with 119 aces and 141 kills.
She comes from a supportive family of four. Her parents, Oleg and Ivana Lakovic, have always encouraged her athletic goals and supported her volleyball career. Her father played soccer before beginning medical school, while her younger sister, Katja, plays basketball. Both of her parents are also active in cycling, helping foster a family that values athletics and an active lifestyle.
Outside of volleyball, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, experiencing new cultures, and studying. She plans to pursue a career in medicine, with aspirations of becoming either an anesthesiologist or an orthopedic surgeon and following in her father's footsteps. Lakovic chose USU Eastern because it provides the opportunity to continue both her volleyball career and education while offering an environment with numerous opportunities for personal and athletic growth.
