USU Eastern Athletics

Maria Jose Martinez, a freshman volleyball player from Chía, Colombia, brings championship experience and a passion for the game to the USU Eastern volleyball program. During her high school career, she helped her school team capture the National Inter-School Games championship, gaining valuable experience competing at a high level and contributing to a championship-winning team.

Martinez comes from a close and supportive family. She lives with her parents and younger sister and comes from a large extended family where sports are a major part of their lives. Growing up surrounded by family members who share a love for athletics has helped shape her passion for competition and volleyball.

Outside of volleyball, Martinez enjoys spending time outdoors, walking, running and hanging out with her friends. She chose Utah State University Eastern because she was impressed by the volleyball program and really enjoyed the campus. She looks forward to continuing her volleyball career while embracing the opportunity to grow both academically and athletically as an Eagle.
