The Utah State Eastern women's soccer team returned to Price for its home opener against the No. 7 Salt Lake Community College Bruins. The contest also marked the Eagles' first Scenic West Athletic Conference contest.
The Eagles opened scoring in the fourth minute with a Sienna Goulding goal assisted by Brookley Rasmussen. The goal was Goulding's first of the season.
The Eagles controlled possession for the next few minutes, but Salt Lake broke through the Eastern defense with a goal in the 21st minute. SLCC found the back of the net once more before the half, as Eastern trailed 2-1 at the break.
Despite many opportunities, the Eagles were unable to close the gap with the Bruins. SLCC added another goal in the second half, and Eastern fell 3-1 in its conference opener.
The Eagles will next hit the road to take on the Colorado Northwestern Community College Spartans in Rangely, Colorado. Kick-off is scheduled for Thursday, September 10 at 1:00 p.m.
