The No.19 Utah State Eastern women's soccer team hit the road for a Scenic West matchup with the Colorado Northwestern Community College Spartans.
Eastern entered the matchup looking for a bounce back after a loss in its previous conference match.
The Eagles used a strong performance in the first half to establish a well-earned lead. Katelyn Kitchen put the Eagles on the board with a goal in the 16th minute. The goal was Kitchen's first of the season. Shortly after, in the 28th minute, Isabelle Hill scored Eastern's second goal of the half, her first of the year, on an assist from Kylie Harris. The Eagles wasted no time as Emma Bowman found Mikayla Stewart for her first goal of the season, and Eastern's third of the half. The Eagles entered the half with a 3-0 lead.
Out of the break, Eastern controlled possession, never allowing Colorado Northwestern an opportunity to gain momentum. Anna Hendrix scored her first goal of the season in the 53rd minute, pushing Eastern's lead to four goals. CNCC got on the scoreboard with a goal in the 86th minute, but it was too late. Eastern left CNCC with a 4-1 victory.
The No. 19 Eagles will next travel to Ephraim, Utah for a ranked matchup with No. 20 Snow College. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 12.
