The No. 19 Utah State Eastern women's soccer team fell 2-1 to No. 20 Snow College on the road Thursday in the first meeting of the season between the two ranked rivals.
Eastern and Snow battled through a defensive first half, with both teams creating early scoring opportunities that were turned away by strong defensive play. Snow broke through in the 40th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
With just seconds remaining before halftime, Brookley Rasmussen found the back of the net for her third goal of the season, leveling the match at 1-1 heading into the break.
The Eagles controlled much of the possession in the second half, but Snow regained the lead in the 66th minute. Eastern continued to push for an equalizer late in the match but was unable to find the back of the net, falling 2-1.
The No. 19 Eagles, now sitting at 3-4 (1-2 in conference play), will look to bounce back when they return home to face the College of Southern Idaho Golden Eagles at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at Castleview Hospital Soccer Field.
