The Utah State Eastern men's soccer team earned a 4-1 road victory over Truckee Meadows Community College on Saturday in Reno, Nevada, securing its second win of the weekend.
The Eagles opened the scoring in the 18th minute when Ishmail Shehata found the back of the net off an assist from Andrew Guizar. Just a minute later, Luis Velasco added another goal to give Eastern a 2-0 lead.
Eastern continued to apply pressure in the first half, recording seven shots and forcing three saves from the Truckee Meadows goalkeeper. Oliver Palafox extended the Eagles' advantage in the 43rd minute, sending Eastern into halftime with a 3-0 lead.
The Lizards got on the scoreboard in the 72nd minute, cutting into Eastern's advantage. However, the Eagles maintained control and Noah Heil added a goal in the 90th minute to secure the 4-1 victory.
Eastern finished with a 13-5 advantage in shots. Goalkeepers Xavier Peregrina and Felipe Martin split time in goal for the Eagles.
Eastern will return home for the first of four consecutive home matches to close out the regular season when it hosts Colorado Northwestern Community College on Thursday, Oct. 15. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
