Biography
Tumwa Mbanga, a freshman from Edmonton, Alberta, is joining the USU Eastern men's soccer team. He has a strong background in soccer from his high school and club experiences. At St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School, Tumwa won the Junior MVP Award while playing a year up. His club achievements include winning the 2023 Canada Youth Cup National Showcase, the 2018 Youth Provincials, the 2021 and 2022 Scottish Caledonia Cup, and the 2018 and 2019 Family Day Cup.
Tumwa is part of a family of five, including his parents, Maro and Kevin, and two younger siblings. He is the first in his family to play college soccer internationally. His parents moved to Canada for further education and have always kept their children physically active through sports.
In his free time, Tumwa enjoys working out, watching shows, and following football. He plans to major in Kinesiology to remain in an athletic environment. Tumwa chose USU Eastern due to his positive relationship with Coach Thompson and the team's strong chemistry. He believes USU Eastern is the ideal place for his growth as a player, student, and individual.
