Ezias Steffen, a redshirt sophomore from Phoenix, Arizona, brings collegiate experience and a strong competitive background to the USU Eastern men's basketball program. Before joining USU Eastern, Steffen played at Mesa Community College, where he averaged 14.6 points per game during the 2025 season while shooting 53.2% from the field and 34.8% from three-point range. His performance earned him Second Team All-ACCAC and Second Team All-Region honors. Before college, he played at Chandler High School, earning First Team All-State honors, before continuing his career at AZ Compass Prep and competing against high-level national competition in the EYBL Scholastic.
Steffen is the son of Brittany Takapu, who competed in basketball and track and field before earning her degree from Arizona State University. His uncle, Morning Star Takapu, played collegiate basketball at Chaminade University in Honolulu, Hawaii. Coming from a family with a strong athletic background, Steffen was influenced by his family's experiences in collegiate sports and developed a passion for competition and basketball.
Outside of basketball, Steffen enjoys spending time with family and friends, working out and listening to music. He plans to study construction management and chose USU Eastern for the opportunity to grow as a student-athlete, compete at a high level and prepare for the next level.
