Ben Holakeituai, a freshman from Kahuku, Hawaii, brings strong playmaking ability and competitive experience to the USU Eastern basketball program. During his senior season, he averaged 12 points, five assists and five rebounds per game while helping his team finish fourth in the state and third in its district. He also competed with Hawaii Select, helping the team win tournaments in Las Vegas in both the Gold and Silver leagues, and performed well at the West Coast Classics camp in California.
Holakeituai is the oldest of five children and is the son of Penisimani and Tarita Holakeituai. His father played left tackle at Kansas State and currently coaches the offensive line at Kahuku High School, while his mother was a dancer and now works part time as an elementary school teacher. His younger sister plays basketball at Northern Idaho College, his younger brother plans to play football at Westlake High School, and his younger sister plays volleyball at Kahuku High School. His youngest brother is still deciding which sport he wants to pursue.
Outside of basketball, Holakeituai enjoys playing video games, chess, pingpong, touch rugby and football, as well as hiking, swimming at the beach or lakes and spending time with friends. He plans to major in business finance and chose USU Eastern for the opportunity to continue playing basketball at the collegiate level.
