The Utah State Eastern Eagles continued conference play with two home matches against the No. 3 Salt Lake Community College Bruins and the Colorado Northwestern Community College Spartans.
On Thursday, the Eagles welcomed the No. 3-ranked Bruins in the first home conference match up of the season. The Bruins jumped to a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute and followed that goal with another in the 32nd minute. Despite chances before the half, the Eagles entered the break down 2-0.
Salt Lake would add goals in the 54th and 67th minutes to expand their lead to 4-0.
Paisley Ashworth scored in the 87th minute to break the shutout, but the Eagles fell to the Bruins, 4-1.
Looking for a bounce back, the Eagles welcomed CNCC to Price for another SWAC face-off. In a match dominated by the Eagles,
Paisley Ashworth's hat trick led to a 5-1 dominant win.
Ashworth scored in the 10th minute off an assist by Cali Condie, giving Eastern a 1-0 lead. Seven minutes later, Ashworth scored her second of the match on an assist by
Emmalee Christensen. Missed chances to close the half meant Eastern went into the half with a 2-0 lead.
The Spartans opened the half with a goal in the 58th minute to make the score 2-1.
Emma Bargeron would separate the Eagles from the Spartans with a goal in the 73rd minute.
Ashworth finished her hat trick with a goal in the 88th minute, and
Davian Dix added another in the 89th minute to solidify Eastern's 5-1 win.
Next, the Eagles will travel to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, to take on the North Idaho College Cardinals in a SWAC match up. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
