Utah State Eastern women's soccer earned a key road win on Thursday, September 18, taking down North Idaho College 3–2 in Coeur d'Alene. The Eagles' explosive first half provided just enough separation to secure the victory.
Sophomore
Emmalee Christensen got the Eagles rolling less than two minutes into the match with the first goal. In the 17th minute,
Sariah Taeoalii, assisted by
Davian Dix, doubled the lead. Just before the half-hour mark,
Kate Heaton buried Eastern's third, sending the team into the break with a commanding 3–0 advantage.
North Idaho battled back in the second half and cut the deficit to one, but the Eagles held strong defensively. Goalkeeper
Sarah Newman came up big with seven saves to protect the lead as the Cardinals pressed for an equalizer.
Despite being out shot, USU Eastern's early offensive surge proved to be the difference. With the 3–2 victory, the Eagles continue to build momentum in conference play and showcase their ability to strike quickly and hold firm under pressure.
The Eagles will head to Reno, Nevada this Thursday for the next conference match up against Truckee Meadows.
