Mathis earned All-Region and All-State Honorable Mention recognition during his high school career and was known for his defensive consistency, finishing the season without committing a single error. His performance reflected both reliability and attention to detail on the field.

He is the youngest member of his family and the first to compete in both high school and collegiate baseball, marking a significant milestone for his family’s athletic history.

He is currently enrolled in the welding program at Utah State University Eastern. Away from baseball, he enjoys bowling and participating in a variety of pickup-style sports, maintaining an active lifestyle while pursuing his academic and athletic goals.
