He was a highly accomplished performer during his high school career, earning First Team All-State, First Team All-Area, and First Team All-Region honors. He also competed in the All-Star Game in back-to-back seasons.

He is the son of Jake and Sharli Abbott and the oldest of four children. His father also played college baseball.

Away from competition, he enjoys hunting, fly fishing, dirt biking, and riding horses. He chose to attend Utah State University Eastern because of the coaching staff and the strong relationships built within the program.
