Roper Kay, a freshman catcher and outfielder from Salem, Utah, graduated from Salem Hills High School. During his high school career, his team won region championships and reached the final four each year. Roper also excelled in football, rushing for 1,000 yards.

Roper’s parents are Angela VanWagoner (mother) and Ed Kay (father), who are divorced and remarried. He has two brothers and two sisters, and his older brother played college baseball.

Roper enjoys video games, sports, and lifting in his free time. He chose to come to USU Eastern to continue his baseball career and pursue his associate's degree.
