The No. 12 Utah State Eastern men's soccer team traveled to Colorado Northwestern Community College looking for its first Scenic West victory of the season.
The Eagles were able to start the game with a quick goal by Martin Topic in the fourth minute. The goal was Topic's first of the season. The Eagles were able to manufacture 13 total shots in the first half, but thanks to five saves from CNCC's goalie, Eastern only entered the halftime break with a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, the Eagles continued to control possession and momentum, putting up 10 more shots in the second half. Despite eight more saves by CNCC, the Eagles found the back of the net, once again, with a Noah Heil goal in the 64th minute. The goal was Heil's second of the season. The goal extended Eastern's lead, providing the final nail in the coffin. The Eagles defeated the Spartans, 2-0.
The Eagles will next travel to No. 14 Snow College on Saturday, September 12. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in Ephraim, Utah.
