The Eagles traveled to Rock Springs, Wyoming, to take part in the Western Wyoming Classic. The Eagles faced new competition, playing the Western Wyoming Community College Mustangs and the Northwest College Trappers.

The Eagles opened with the host Mustangs on Friday night. The Mustangs jumped to an early 8-13 lead after the first quarter. Trying to respond, the Eagles found themselves down 24-36 at the half.

Eastern rebounded in the third quarter, outscoring the Mustangs 29-11 in the period. This gave the Eagles a 53-47 lead before the final quarter. The Eagles tried to hold to their lead, but the Mustangs closed the game to defeat the Eagles, 65-67.

Marlee Pieper led the Eagles with another double-double. Pieper had a team-high 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Skylie Barker finished with 15 points to finish in double figures.

To finish the weekend, the Eagles took on the Northwest College Trappers. This was the first time these two teams played since 2018.

The Eagles and Trappers traded leads in the first quarter, playing a contested period that ended in a 17-18 lead for the Trappers. The Eagles found themselves falling behind in the second quarter, getting outscored 18-24 in the half. Eastern was down 35-42 at the half.

Needing to start a comeback, the Eagles and Trappers each scored 18 in the third quarter. The Eagles were still down seven points going into the fourth. A combination of clutch scoring and stellar defensive play led to the Eagles outscoring Northwest 20-9 in the final period. The Eagles won the game 73-69.

Skylie Barker was the leading scorer for Eastern with 14 points. Addasyn Scrivner (11) and Marlee Pieper (10) also finished in double figures.

The Eagles will close their preseason schedule with a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada, for the CSN Holiday Tournament. They will play Western Wyoming again on Monday, Dec. 15, and then Eastern Arizona again on Tuesday, Dec. 16.
