Softball Competes In Great Western Shootout

Feb 4 vs South Mountain Community College - Game 1   L 9-7

Eastern strung together 11 hits in the game, multiple hits from Mackenzie Wright (Fr), Ally Oyanguren (So) and Marisa Bowman (So). Emma Marchant was in the circle through 6.1 innings allowing 8 hits and 9 runs, striking out 7. Oakley Giacoletto (Fr) came in to finish the game. Wright (Fr) led the game going 3 for 3 at the plate.

Feb 4 vs Arizona Western - Game 2    W 8-4

Eagles defeated Arizona Western 8-4. Opening the game in the 2nd inning scoring 1, in the 3rd inning Freshman Sydney Smith had a 2RBI Double on the first pitch of her at bat and Maci Harrop (So) had an RBI single to contribute to the inning. In the 6th inning Eastern put up 3 runs with big RBIs from Zoey Rose (Fr) and Malorie Luck (So). Sydney Smith earned the win allowing 4 runs on 9 hits with 3 strikeouts and 1 walk. Rose (Fr) and Wright (Fr) both collected multiple hits for the Eagles. Zoey Rose led at the plate going 3 for 4.

Feb 5 vs Yavapai - Game 3     L 14-2

Eastern fell behind early in the game, while Yavapai jumped ahead in the 1st with a 5-run inning. Madie Luck (So) started in the circle through 4 allowing 10 hits and 10 runs, striking out 1. Sydney Smith (Fr) came into to finish the game. Yavapai had another big inning in the 5th scoring 5 runs. Mackenzie Wright led the Eagles at the plate going 2 for 2.

Feb 5 vs Eastern Arizona - Game 4    L 9-3

Eagles drop game 4 to Eastern Arizona. Utah State Eastern took the lead in the 3rd inning scoring 3 runs with Marisa Bowman (So) hitting a 3-run homerun. Eastern Arizona strung together 5 runs in the 4th inning. The Eagles didn't produce anymore runs in the game, in the 6th inning Eastern Arizona gathered 3 more runs. Madie Luck (So) led at the plate going 2 for 3. 

Feb 5 vs Central Arizona- Game 5    L 8-7

Eastern stayed in the game until the end, but Central Arizona pulled away late in the game, winning 8-7. The game was tied at 5 going into the bottom of the 6th . Emma Marchant (So) was in the circle for the Eagles through 6 innings allowing 7 runs on 13 hits with 8 strikeouts. Marisa Bowman launched a 2- run homerun in the 3rd inning. 13 hits were gathered from the Eagles, with multiples from Marisa Bowman (So), Quaylee Smuin (Fr), Skyler Lauver (So) and Mackenzie Wright (Fr).


March 4 begins conference play against Salt Lake Community College, @ Salt Lake Community College

March 5- 12:00pm & 2:00pm
