Women's Basketball Earns Road Win Over CNCC

PRICE – Utah State Eastern Women's Basketball defeated the Colorado Northwest Spartans 82-65 on Thursday in Rangely.

After a slow start for both teams in the first period, the Eagles were able to control the rest of the game and outscore the Spartans to pick up their second win in Rangely this season.

The Eagles shot 47.5% from the field and 35.7 % from three on Thursday including shooting 70% from the field in the fourth quarter.

On defense the Eagles forced 17 Spartan turnovers along with 10 steals.

Freshman guard Amiperia Ti'a scored a team-high 20 points on Thursday in 34 minutes of play.

USU Eastern's Emmery Wagstaff and Alyssa Crumley both led the Eagles in rebounds with six boards a piece. Wagstaff finished the game with 16 points and a team-high four assists.

Thursday's win puts the Eagles at 5-6 in conference play and 17-9 overall this season.

The Eagles will host the College of Southern Idaho for sophomore night on Saturday inside the Bunnell-Dimitrich Athletic Center.

A win against CSI would push the Eagles to third place in the conference standings and the three seed in next weekend's Region XVIII Tournament.

Saturday's game is scheduled for 3 p.m. and can be seen on the Scenic West Digital Network at scenicwestnetwork.com/usu.
