Box Score PRICE, Utah – The Utah State Eastern men's basketball team picked up another win against Salt Lake Community College on Tuesday, defeating the Bruins 99-82.
With the win the Eagles split the regular season series with the Bruins. They defeated the Bruins a couple weeks ago in Taylorsville when the Bruins were nationally ranked.
The game against SLCC was one of the first games this season where the Eagles were in control of the game for almost the full 40 minutes.
They also added another player to the injury list this season, sophomore forward
Alex Morrell is now sidelined for the season. The Eagles are also playing without starting guard
Milan Surlic' and starting forward
Andy Isokpehi.
Despite the lack of depth, the Eagles did not have a player foul out until the last couple minutes of the second half.
The Eagles also spent a lot of time at the free throw line with shooting 37 out of 45 in the game for 82 percent to help keep the lead against SLCC.
Leading the way for the Eagles in scoring was sophomore guard
Koel Cutler who scored 21 points with five three pointers made from long range.
Freshman guard
Quinn Peters also scored in double-digits on Tuesday after finishing the night with 19 points and 7 assists.
Picking up minutes with the injuries to Isokpehi and Morrell was reserve forward Kristupas Totoris who made big plays throughout the night. He finished with a season-high 17 points coming off the bench.
In the front court for the Eagles, both Cam Bailey and
Roman McKnight each had a double-double in points and rebounds. McKnight had 20 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks against SLCC. Bailey finished the game with 19 points and 12 rebounds while playing with 4 fouls down the stretch.
The Eagles now have won 4 out of their last five conference games and will look to win their final home game tomorrow night against the Colorado Northwest Spartans.
