Women's Soccer Picks Up Two Road Wins in Colorado

PRICE, UTAH – Utah State Eastern women's soccer defeated the Colorado Northwest Spartans on Friday and Saturday in Craig, Colorado.

The Eagles snapped a two-game losing streak on Friday with a 10-1 victory of the Spartans.

Freshmen Amanda Manwill and Kalli Prendergast each scored two goals in Friday's game.

Six other Eagles scored a goal in Fridays game. Those that scored were freshmen Ellie Putnam, Brooklyn Lamb, Gabrielle Sansbury, McKayla Martell, Alyssa Spillett and sophomore Rachel Neff.

Freshman keeper Payton Carlson was in net for the Eagles and had two saves while giving up one goal.

The scoring continued on Saturday as the Eagles picked up another lopsided win against CNCC by a score of 12-1.

Sophomore Taryn Pritchett led the Eagles in scoring with three goals.

Manwill and fellow freshman Morgan Hall each had a team-high two assists in Saturday's game.

With the two wins in Colorado, the Eagles now have an overall record of 8-5-1 with a conference record of 3-4-1.

After the weekend of games, USU Eastern Head Coach Ammon Bennett said his team needs to be ready for a very important game on Wednesday against the College of Southern Nevada.

"Our girls game against CSN is very important for seeding in the conference tournament, we could be the three seed which helps avoid playing an extra gam," said Bennett.

Bennett said that his team will need to finish offensively and limit mistakes to be successful against CSN.

"We have to finish on our chances and we have to limit defensive mistakes that hurt us in the games we played them in Nevada," said Bennett.

Wednesday's game against CSN is schedule to start at 3 p.m. at the Utah State Eastern soccer field behind the BDAC.

Fans can watch the game live on YouTube on the USU Eastern Athletics channel or on KOAL at koalitv.com.
