PRICE, UTAH – The Utah State Eastern women's soccer team lost a close match to the College of Southern Nevada Coyotes 1-0 Wednesday in Price.
Coyotes and Eagles battled back and forth throughout much of the first half with each team's defense stepping up in the game.
There was only one shot combined by both teams in the first half. The lone shot came from USU Eastern sophomore
Melanie Graves in the 7' minute but CSN's Carolina Velasquez made the save.
After halftime there was still no offense from either side with only one shot attempted in the first 12 minutes of the half.
The Coyotes scored what would be the game-winning goal in the 57' minute by Sydni Aldan to take the lead.
USU Eastern couldn't get the ball to go in the net in the second half after the goal by CSN.
They attempted eight shots in the second half with Velasquez only saving one for CSN.
In the final minute of the game the Eagles almost tied the game up at 1-1 but both shots by sophomore
Kori Jorgensen and Graves hit the crossbar.
With the loss the Eagles fall to 8-6-1 overall and 3-5 in conference.
The Eagles will travel to Salt Lake City this Friday to take on Salt Lake Community College.
Next week they will host Snow College on Thursday and Colorado Northwest on Saturday to wrap up the regular season.
