Box Score PRICE, Utah – Men's basketball picks up their fifth straight loss Tuesday against the Salt Lake Community College Bruins by a score of 86-76.
Earlier this season the Eagles lost their first conference game to the Bruins by one point.
In the rematch against the Bruins, the Eagles fell behind early after only shooting 34.5% from the field and 10% from the 3 point line in the first half.
The second half was a completely different story for the Eagles. They outscored the Bruins 46-45 in the second half and shot 13 out of 16 at the free throw line.
With starting forward
Alex Morrell being out with injury, the Eagles had another great contribution from sophomore forward Cam Bailey. Against SLCC Bailey had 13 points and 13 rebounds with a block and a steal.
Head Coach Vando Becheli is grateful for the role Bailey has taken on during the past few weeks.
"Cam Bailey is playing huge for us since he is the only big man that we have available.He accepted the challenge to protect the middle of our zone defense and he doing great so far," said Becheli.
Freshman guard
Quinn Peters had another great game for the Eagles on both sides of the court. Peters scored 14 points and grabbed 3 rebounds with 4 assists and 3 steals.
Although it wasn't in a win, the Eagles bench stepped up to provide quality minutes for Becheli.
"We talked that how important is that our bench step up and have more responsibility not just helping the team on offense but on defense too! I think last night they accept the challenge and help us a lot," said Becheli.
Off the bench, freshman
Kristupas Totoris had 10 points including being six for six from the free throw line. Sophomore
Koel Cutler had 11 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists off the bench as well.
With the loss the Eagles overall record moves to 5-13 and their conference record is 0-5.
The Eagles will travel to Rangely, Colorado tomorrow night to take on the Spartans of Colorado Northwest at 7:30 p.m.
