Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 PRICE, Utah – Utah State Eastern men's basketball returns home today after participating in the Arizona Challenge over the weekend. 

The Eagles left last week to travel down to the Phoenix area and Tucson to play four games in four days. They finished the challenge 2-2 including a 92-90 narrow loss yesterday against Pima in Tucson.

On Thursday they picked up their fist victory of the season against Chandler-Gilbert, defeating the Coyotes 92-76. 

The Eagles picked up their second win of the season against Scottsdale by defeating the Artichokes 75-69. Sophomore Roman McKnight led the Eagles with a double-double scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. 

Sophomore Cam Bailey also had a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Coming off the bench, freshman Andy Isokpehi had 10 points and 11 rebounds.

The next day the Eagles traveled to Mesa and lost to a tough Mesa team, 88-68. McKnight had another great game for the Eagles scoring 18 points and grabbing 7 rebounds.

Freshman Quinn Peters and Milan Surlic' both scored in double figures despite being in foul trouble during part of the game. 

At halftime the Eagles were only down five to Mesa but couldn't make up ground with only shooting 45.8 percent from the field and 72.2 percent from the free throw line in the second half.

Mesa was also able to take advantage of the Eagle's 27 turnovers, scoring 34 points off turnovers in the game. Mesa also scored more points in the paint than the Eagles, 48-28.

To wrap up this year's Arizona Challenge, Utah State Eastern finished with a loss against Pima 92-90.

McKnight continued his great week in Arizona with a team-high 25 points against Pima. Peters and Surlic' each had 14 points and 2 steals. Head Coach Vando Becheli said that McKnight's size and ability has helped make huge contributions to the team coming in as as transfer.

"He has the ability to put the ball on the floor and attack the rim, he has a decent 3 point shot and also can play back to the basket. Because of his ability, he can create a lot of mismatch for us and this make him a important peace of our team," said Becheli.

The Eagles shot an impressive 53 percent from three point range and improved their free throw percentage up to 79 percent against Pima.

After their time in Arizona, the Eagles record now sits at 2-4 going into their next tournament this weekend at home.

Becheli is excited to be back at home because he feels that it will help with the maturation process of his young team. 

"Playing at home at the next weekend will give us more confidence and the process of this kids getting more mature will continues," said Becheli.

He also said that freshman forward Richard Worsham will return this week from injury to help the Eagles in the post. Six games into the season, the Eagles have had to play with only 10 players with five players being injured.

The Eagles will host the USU Eastern Invitational this weekend with three other teams coming to Price to participate.

On Friday the Eagles will take on Arizona Western at 7:30 p.m. and then on Saturday they will play against Treasure Valley Community College at 5:30 p.m.
