During her senior season, she earned honorable mention All-American honors from both the Associated Press and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. She was named the 2009 Mountain West Conference Player of the Year and was a three-time first-team All-MWC selection. She finished her career with 1,886 points, which ranks sixth in Utah history.

Warburton-Nelson also established herself as one of the top free-throw shooters in Utah history. She set school records for career free-throw percentage at 88.3 percent, free throws made in a season with 161, free throws made in a game with 16 and single-season free-throw percentage at 90.4 percent. She finished her career with 439 made free throws, ranking second in school history.

Following her collegiate career, Warburton-Nelson became the fourth WNBA draftee in Utah history when she was selected in the third round of the 2009 WNBA Draft by the Sacramento Monarchs. She went on to play professionally in Spain for two seasons before beginning her coaching career.

Warburton-Nelson married her husband, Tyler Nelson, in May 2012. They have two children, a son, Grady, and a daughter, Maggie.
