Chelsey Warburton

Women's basketball head coach, Chelsey Warburton, accepted the position as Assistant Athletic Director - Internal Operations for Utah State Eastern.  Her vast knowledge of NJCAA eligibility and game management will help the department achieve the vision of the Athletic Director and department as whole.     

Coach Warburton is in her ninth season as the Head Women's Basketball Coach at USU Eastern.

With Warburton at the helm has produced three NJCAA All-Americans and an over-all record 117-88 in seven seasons. 

 

2019-2020: SWAC Co-Champs for the first time in school history, named SWAC coach of the year, record of 24-6 which is the best single season record in program history, 5 players received all-conference awards, and tied at the No. 4 spot nationally for team GPA at 3.58

2020-2021: Reached her 100th career win as a coach. Team was 8th in the nation for women's basketball team GPA,with a GPA of 3.56.

2021-2022:  NJCAA Women's Basketball Academic Teams Of The Year ranked 13th in the nation and 1st in Region 18.  Warburton led her team in defeat of No. 5 Southern Idaho in Region 18 play. 

She has had three players receive All-American Honors: Madison Loftus in 2016-2017, Margarett Otuafi in 2019-2020, and Kinlee Toomer 2021-2022 season.


She also served as Athletic Director of USU Eastern from March 2017 through October 2018.

Prior to becoming the head coach in 2015, Waburton spent two seasons as an assistant coach to longtime coach Dave Paur.

While being an assistant coach she served as Head Volleyball Coach at USU Eastern. Before becoming head coach of the volleyball program, Warburton was an assistant and co-head coach the previous two seasons.

Before entering the coaching ranks, she played professionally overseas in Amsterdam in 2008-2009. She was named Team MVP during her time overseas.

 
Warburton played collegiately for both College of Eastern Utah and Weber State. After one season at CEU where she earned first team All-Region honors, she went on to a decorated career at Weber State.

At Weber State, she multiple records including three pointers made in a game (8), single season three pointers made (103), and during her senior year in 2007, she led the nation in three-point field goals made per game (3.3) She finished her career with the Wildcats with 238 three pointers made and 1,108 career points.

Completed her MEd in Physical and Sport Education from Utah State University in 2020.


Warburton is originally from nearby Helper, Utah and graduated from Carbon High School. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Weber State and completed her MEd in Physical Education from Utah State University.
