Katelyn Groves enters her third full season as the head coach of the Utah State University Eastern softball program. Groves brought nearly a decade of collegiate coaching experience to Eastern after previously serving as the head coach at Western Nebraska Community College from 2016-22 and as an assistant coach for three seasons prior. During her time at Western Nebraska, she helped lead the Cougars to three Region IX championships.

Before beginning her coaching career, Groves was a standout student-athlete at Western Nebraska. She helped lead the Cougars to a Region IX championship in 2010 as the team finished the season with a 51-15 record. Groves established herself as one of the top hitters in Region IX and the NJCAA, earning All-American honors in 2009 after posting a .517 batting average and .895 slugging percentage. She finished her career holding several Western Nebraska records.

After graduating from Western Nebraska in 2010, Groves continued her playing career at the University of Central Missouri. While with the Jennies, she earned All-MIAA First Team honors and was recognized as an MIAA and NFCA Division II All-American Scholar-Athlete.

Groves earned her bachelor's degree from Central Missouri before remaining with the program for one season as a graduate assistant while pursuing her master's degree.
