Coach Blackhurst is entering his fourth season on the coaching staff at USU Eastern.
During his time on staff at USU Eastern he has helped coach several players to all-conference honors and helping the program double it's wins from 2017 to 2019.
Prior to joining the staff, Coach Blackhurst coached competitive travel softball for nearly a decade. Blackhurst was also an assistant coach at Pleasant Grove High School from 2014-2017.
At Pleasant Grove he helped coach the team to three straight state playoff appearances after almost a decade of not qualifying. He also helped coach 10 players who ended up being named to the Deseret News All-State teams.Â
Coach Blackhurst pitched in competitive men's fast pitch softball leagues for 15 years prior to entering the coaching ranks.
He graduated from Pleasant Grove in 1990. Following a two-year mission in Chile for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Blackhurst earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Management with a minor in Marketing from Utah Valley in 1997.
Blackhurst and his wife Pam are the parents of three children: Avery, Ally, and Cruz.Â
