The Utah State Eastern women's basketball team started the second round of conference play with a matchup with the Snow College Badgers. The last time the two teams met, the Eagles finished with a 64-58 win.
The first quarter of the game saw Eastern take a commanding, 19-11 lead after the first eight minutes. The Eagles were led by stellar play from Skylie Barker, who finished the period with seven points.
In the second period, Snow responded and outscored the Eagles by eight, taking the game into the half tied at 26. Skyle Barker was still the leading scorer for the Eagles with seven points.
The Badgers and Eagles battled to open the second half, but Eastern found themselves down 35-39 heading into the final period.
Behind 13 points in the fourth quarter from Skylie Barker, the Eagles were able to tie the game just before the end of regulation and sent the game into overtime.
In overtime, the Badgers led for the majority of the extra time, but with .6 seconds left on the clock, Marlee Pieper was fouled on a three-point shot, and she made all three of her free throws to give Eastern the 60-59 win in overtime.
Skylie Barker finished the game with a team-high 22 points. Marlee Pieper finished the game with a 10-point, 15-rebound performance.
Next for the Eagles is a matchup against the College of Southern Idaho Golden Eagles. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 29.
