The Utah State Eastern men's basketball team opened the 2025-26 season with a trip to Rock Springs, Wyoming, to face Central Wyoming College and Western Wyoming Community College.
The first matchup of the season was against Central Wyoming College. The Eagles and Rustlers fought in the first half of a defensive battle. Eastern took a 25-21 lead into the halftime break. The offenses woke up in the second half with 80 combined points in the half. Eastern kept the Rustlers at length, leading to a 68-58 win in the season opener.
Ike Palmer led the Eagles with 17 points on 6-13 shooting. Kayin Turner and Seven Bahati scored nine each to help the offensive attack.
Saturday featured a matchup with the hosts, Western Wyoming Community College. Both teams were able to find an offensive groove in the first half, but it was the Mustangs that took a 30-36 lead into the half. Eastern attempted a comeback, but unfortunately ran out of time, falling to WWCC, 71-78.
Ike Palmer once again led the Eagles with 22 points while Kayin Turner added 13, with another 11 from Bowen Davies.
Next for the Eagles is a chance to return home. Eastern will host the Region 18/Region 1 Challenge featuring Arizona Western College, Eastern Arizona College, and Snow College. The Eagles will play Arizona Western on Friday, November 7, at 7:00 p.m. They will then play Eastern Arizona on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
