PRICE – Utah State Eastern Women's Basketball defeated the Colorado Northwestern Spartans 95-60 on Thursday in the 2019 Region XVIII Tournament opening round.
The Eagles were hot from long distance in the opening period to help build momentum in the early goings of the game.
They shot six of eight from three in the first period to outscore CNCC 31-19.
In the second period the Eagles would outscore the Spartans 25-7 to head to halftime with a 30 point lead.
USU Eastern would continue to shoot well in the second half shooting 66 percent from the field and 50 percent from three.
Freshman guard
Emmery Wagstaff led the Eagles with 18 points including shooting four of five from beyond the arc.
The Eagles' bench stepped up in the win as well putting up 43 points and grabbing 16 rebounds.
With the win on Thursday night the Eagles will take on top seed Salt Lake Community College tomorrow night inside the BDAC at 5:30 p.m.
