The USU Eastern men's soccer team took on the 5
th ranked Salt Lake Bruins Saturday, October 5
th. The Eagles fell to the Bruins 3-2.
This is the second time the team faced the Bruins and this game was a significant improvement from the first contest betwee the two programs. The Bruins had a slight advantage over the Eagles for about 60 inutes of the 90 minute game; the team still played very well and only allowed SLCC to score 3 goals.
During the last 30 minutes of the game the Bruins became very tired and USU Eastern was able to possess the ball and get multiple opportunities on goal that would have tied the game and sent us into overtime; unfortunately the Eagles were unable to connect.
"I'm very pleased with the manner in which my boys played today. I feel like they fought hard and the effort that they gave and that changes that they have made in the last week are a good indication that we are progressing. I'm excited to see now, how well we do going forward for the next three conference games. We lost the game today 3 to 2 but it was incredibly close and we played very, very well" said head coach
Jared Woodhouse.
The men's soccer team will play their final home game of the season this Saturday, October 12th against Colorado Northwestern Community College at 11 a.m. on the Castleview Hospital Soccer Field.
