Mary Hart is entering her eighth year with Utah State University Eastern, where she serves as Associate Athletic Director. In her role, she oversees eligibility and game management while also serving as the Sports Information Director. Hart began her time with the department as a graduate assistant, also assisting with the softball program during her first two years. Over the years, she has worked in administration and continued to expand her leadership and responsibilities within the department.
A native of Harrisburg, North Carolina, Hart attended Hickory Ridge High School, where she was a four-year varsity starter on the softball team. She earned All-Conference honors in her sophomore, junior, and senior seasons.
Hart began her collegiate playing career at Spartanburg Methodist College, where she was a two-year starter at shortstop and helped lead the team to an NJCAA National Tournament appearance. She was named First Team All-Region and to the NJCAA All-Tournament Team both years.
She continued her career at Limestone University in South Carolina, where she was a two-year starter at third base. In her senior season, she hit .339 and earned All-Conference and All-Tournament honors in 2018, following a successful comeback from an ACL tear.
Hart holds an Associate of Science from Spartanburg Methodist College, a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education with an emphasis in Strength and Conditioning from Limestone University, and a Master’s degree in Sports and Physical Education from Utah State University.
Hart was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, and grew up in North Carolina, where she is proud to call home. She currently resides in Price, Utah, with her husband, Race Nielson.
