Kirk Haney serves as the Head Baseball Coach at Utah State University Eastern, where he leads the Eagles’ baseball program with an emphasis on player development, academic achievement, competitive excellence, and building a strong team culture. Coach Haney is entering his eighth year as the Eagles' head coach.
Since taking over the program, Haney has helped guide a significant turnaround, and establishing a new school record for wins in a season. Under his leadership, the program has also made an appearance in the Western District Tournament. During this time the Eagles have continued to develop and send players on to four year programs.
Haney places a strong emphasis on developing student-athletes both on and off the field. Academically, his teams have earned Academic All-American team recognition four consecutive years, while the program’s team GPA has improved from approximately 2.2 to above a 3.2 during his tenure.
His coaching philosophy centers around developing disciplined, accountable, and selfless student-athletes. He emphasizes preparation, effort, toughness, consistency, and high standards while creating an environment where players are challenged to grow as baseball players, students, teammates, and leaders.
Away from the baseball field, Coach Haney values his role as a husband and father. He and his wife, Jeridi, have three children—two daughters and one son. His family is an important part of who he is and serves as a constant reminder of the importance of leadership, character, and investing in the lives of others.
His goal as a coach is to build more than a successful baseball program. Haney strives to develop young men who are prepared to lead, work hard, handle adversity, and represent Utah State Eastern with pride.
