A Utah native from Herriman, Jael Vaughn is a graduate of Herriman High School, where he was named Region 3 Most Outstanding Player, earned 6A All-State honors, and led Utah’s highest classification in both assists and steals. Following his standout prep career, Vaughn continued his collegiate playing career at Southwestern Oregon Community College before continuing it at Utah State University Eastern. Recognized for his athleticism, defensive versatility, leadership, and relentless work ethic, he developed a well-rounded understanding of the game through years of collegiate competition. Those experiences now serve as the foundation of his coaching philosophy, which emphasizes player development, accountability, discipline, and the pursuit of championship-level excellence while preparing student-athletes to succeed on the court, in the classroom, and in life.
Jael Vaughn begins his collegiate coaching career in 2026 as an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Utah State University Eastern. In his first season, he assists with player development, recruiting, scouting, film analysis, practice planning, game preparation, and the day-to-day operations of the program. Vaughn is passionate about developing complete student-athletes by emphasizing discipline, accountability, leadership, and continuous improvement. Drawing from his own experiences as a collegiate player, he is committed to fostering a championship culture while helping players reach their highest potential both on the court, in the classroom, and in life.
