Cheyanne Slaughter enters her second season as the head coach of the Utah State University Eastern archery team. Slaughter began her coaching career as a volunteer at Mont Harmon Middle School from 2022-25 before also serving as a volunteer coach at Carbon High School from 2023-25.
A 2023 graduate of Carbon High School, Slaughter earned an associate degree from Utah State University Eastern in 2025. She is currently pursuing bachelor’s degrees in elementary education and special education through Western Governors University.
Before beginning her coaching career at the collegiate level, Slaughter competed in the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) for seven years. She competed in state, national and championship tournaments, earning first-place finishes at the Utah State Tournament in 2021 and 2022 and winning the NASP National Tournament in 2022. In 2023, she competed in her first 3D competition and placed eighth at the Championship Tournament.
In 2022, Slaughter was named the Overall Top Female in the Western Bullseye Division after recording a score of 296 out of 300. The performance earned her a spot in a national scholarship shoot-off featuring the top five male and female archers from across the country.
Outside of coaching and archery, Slaughter enjoys camping, hunting and riding ATVs with her parents, Justin and Michelle, and younger sister, Ashlyn. She also enjoys reading and spending quiet time with a good book.
