Biography

Megan Zunich is a sophomore rodeo athlete from Moab, Utah, competing in barrel racing and breakaway roping for USU Eastern.

She was an accomplished competitor in the Utah High School Rodeo Association, qualifying for state all four years and Silver State her senior year. She also qualified for Vegas Tuffest and the Junior Patriot. Last season, she finished top 10 in the Rocky Mountain region in barrel racing. In addition to rodeo, Megan played varsity basketball, where she was a multiple-time MVP and served as team captain her senior year.

Megan comes from an athletic family. Her parents, Matt and Kelly Zunich, were both high school athletes—her dad was a state champion wrestler at 130 lbs his junior year, while her mom played volleyball and basketball. Her sister, Mercedes, was a multi-sport athlete competing in cross country, basketball, and track.

Megan is currently studying nursing and will begin the nursing program this fall. She originally planned to earn a business degree but will now minor in Healthcare Administration while earning her Bachelor’s in Nursing. Outside of school and rodeo, she enjoys hunting, camping, and fishing, making the most of her time outdoors.
