Game 1
USU Eastern showed determination against the College of Southern Nevada as they opened up a four game series against the Coyotes. The Eagles ultimately fell short with a final score of 7-8. Several Eagles had standout performances in the game.
Leading the charge for USU Eastern was McGwire Jephson with two hits and two RBI's which was crucial in the team's offensive efforts. Not far behind, Kaden Miller had two hits but also by sent a ball past the fence for a home run, adding to his tally with an RBI and two runs.Â
Wayland Crane pitched six solid innings and allowing just three earned runs. Nate Rhineer and Tanner Kofoed entered the game for relief, with Kofoed taking a tough loss despite their collective effort to hold off the Coyotes. Â
Game 2
In the second game of the doubleheader Eastern was unable to overcome a late surge falling to the Coyotes with a final score of 7-11. Tyler Nelson hit a home run and Sam Beck added a three-run homer as key contributors to the team's offense. Nelson also added two hits and an RBI in the game. Â
Kade Hansen started on the mound for the Eagles and pitched three innings before Carter Perry and Owen Teuscher took over, but were unable to slow down Southern Nevada's hitters and keep them from scoring. Â
The Eagles will look to even the series against the Coyotes tomorrow, March 23 beginning at 11:00 a.m on the Carlson-Colosimo Field. Â
