Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 PRICE, UT- The Utah State Eastern volleyball began their 2016 season this weekend in Las Vegas as part of the Coyote Classic Tournament.

The Eagles took on Lee College and Arizona Western on Friday. They turned around the next day and played the nationally ranked Yavapai out of Arizona and Laramie College to close out the tournament.

For her debut match, first-year head coach Danielle Jensen and her squad lost a close one to Lee College in five sets, losing by two in the final set.

"The overall feel for our first game was that there was so much energy and excitement with the girls. They played outstanding," said Jensen.

The Eagles played back to back games and were swept by Arizona Western in three sets.

On Saturday, they first faced the 20th ranked Yavapai Roughriders and one the first set of the match. The Roughriders came roaring back and beat the Eagles in the final three sets.

In the final match of the tournament the Eagles lost 3-0 to Laramie. 

Although they didn't come away with a win leaving Las Vegas, Jensen remains optimistic about the upcoming season.

"I think overall we played hard and we played well. We had good look at what we need to work on and the girls got a good feel for what this level is like as well as with each other," said Jensen.

"I am excited to see what this season has in store with the team. Even with the losses we played some great volleyball and I feel like we represented our college well."

Next weekend, the Eagles will travel to Prescott, AZ to partcipate in the Yavapi Roughrider Invitational. They will begin the tournament on Friday at 10 a.m. when they take on the Gila Monsters of Eastern Arizona College.
