Following his undergraduate studies, Tanner continued at CMU to pursue a Master’s in Athletic Training and Sports Medicine. In his second year, he interned at Utah State University Eastern, where he developed a strong connection to the campus and its athletic programs.

After graduating in 2022, Tanner accepted a part-time temporary position as an assistant athletic trainer with CMU football. That same fall, he returned to USU Eastern in a part-time assistant Athletic Trainer capacity, and in 2023, he stepped into the role of Head Athletic Trainer.

Since stepping into the role of Head Athletic Trainer at Utah State University Eastern, Tanner has made significant contributions to elevating the standard of care provided to student-athletes. He has led a full redesign of the athletic training facility, incorporating new treatment tables, updated modalities, and modern equipment to enhance both rehabilitation and recovery.

Tanner has also overhauled and updated Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) to ensure best practices in crisis response and athlete safety. He has authored and implemented comprehensive Sports Medicine and Athletic Training Policies and Procedures tailored specifically to USUE’s needs, providing structure and consistency across all teams.

His work has extended into administrative innovation, where he created streamlined athlete intake processes through new player packets and screening documentation. Additionally, Tanner has integrated cutting-edge technology into the department, including advanced concussion testing protocols and injury documentation software, helping ensure accurate assessments, timely communication, and high-level care throughout the sports season.

In addition to in-house improvements, Tanner Hallock has prioritized building strong working relationships with local healthcare providers to ensure timely and high-quality care for USUE student-athletes. He has established direct referral channels with Eastern Utah Imaging and High Desert Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, enhancing access to diagnostic services and specialty care. These partnerships have strengthened the continuum of care and improved outcomes for athletes recovering from injury.

Driven by a commitment to athlete health and safety, Tanner continues to build a sports medicine program that is both progressive and deeply athlete-focused.
Outside of work, Tanner enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, and their two dogs. Together, they love exploring the outdoors across Colorado and Utah, with camping, hiking, and skiing being some of their favorite activities.
