Byron competed in the Utah High School Rodeo Association (UHSRA) for four years, qualifying for state each year. He competed in multiple events, including bareback, saddle bronc, bull riding, team roping, tie-down roping, and reined cow horse. In 2022, he earned the title of UHSRA All-Around Cowboy and also competed three times at the National High School Finals Rodeo. In addition to rodeo, he ran cross country, helping his team win a state title, and wrestled, winning a state championship his senior year.
He is the fourth of five children born to Kirk and Mistie Christiansen, all of whom have competed in rodeo at the high school, college, or PRCA level. His family’s legacy of rodeo and ranching has been a major influence in shaping his athletic and personal pursuits.
He is passionate about ranching and making it possible for families like his to earn a sustainable living as ranchers. He plans to study Agribusiness at Utah State University Eastern and hopes to help ranchers not only turn a profit but also positively impact the lives of others. In his free time, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and playing a variety of sports.
