PRICE – Utah State Eastern women's soccer lost to the College of Southern Nevada Coyotes 3-2 on Wednesday in Henderson.
The Eagles got behind early in the first half when CSN's Sara Covarrubi scored off an Ashlee Jordan assist in the 27' minute.
Almost fifteen minutes later CSN's Jessica Carnahan scored to put the Coyotes ahead 2-0 right before halftime.
"We started out slow but we brought it to them in the second half," said USU Eastern's
Morgan Cragun.
Within the first minute of the second half,
Logan Duran scored a goal off an assist from
Morgan Hall to cut the Coyotes' lead.
Duran's goal on Wednesday was her fifth of the season and her second this season against CSN.
In the 65' minute CSN's Ashlee Jordan scored an unassisted goal to make the Coyotes' lead back to two goals.
Even though the score was 2-1 in the second half, USU Eastern Head Coach
Ammon Bennett said his team had several opportunities to score more.
"We had a lots of chances, we probably should have scored four or five but just weren't able to pull it off," said Bennett.
The Eagles would keep trying to force the game to at least overtime in the latter part of the second half as freshman
Claire Boman scored in the 84' minute.
Unfortunately for the Eagles, the Boman goal would be the final goal of the game for both teams and they would fall to CSN for the first time this season.
"We played at times pretty good but we just missed on several chances in front of the goal. Overall, it was not a good finishing game for us even though the play was in our favor," said Bennett.
The loss on Wednesday moves the Eagles' conference record to 1-5-1 and their overall record to 5-5-1 with three games left of the regular season.
They will head to Ephraim on Friday for an afternoon battle against #8 Snow College at 1 p.m.
Women's Soccer will conclude their regular season next Friday against #15 Salt Lake at home with kickoff set for 1 p.m.
